It sure seems like the old saying about
the last year of a presidency being GOOD
for the stock market isn't going to hold
water this time...I think the sluggishness
is due to more than the sub prime, though
it's as good an excuse as any to sell off.
NOTHING is sustainable with EVERYTHING
selling on the pops. Sure looks like folks
are prepairing for the worst. The dems,
I'm sorry to say, have been telegraphing
their punches they plan on sending our
way and it SURE looks to me like people
are pulling out ahead of their homicidal
tax increases. I DO NOT want to have a
POLITICAL discussion here, BUT, you just can't
deny that their party has made it DAMNED
clear what they intend on doing to us...
we are capitalist and that makes us a bigger
enemy to them than Ben Laden...they talk
about international politics like they are
the authority yet they can't seem to
comprehend what the ELIMINATION of capital
gains taxes have done for the rest of the
ENTIRE FREE WORLD ??????????????????
I'm holding on to my domestic energy and a
few of my Canadain miners but, personally,
I'm one of the ones selling into strength
and putting my cash into short term cd's.

I won't be investing in mirco caps again
for as far out on the horizon as I can
see. Skyrocketing intrest rates and increased
taxes will just CRUSH what's left of our
bull market....IMO.
I don't claim to be a very smart guy but
I don't need to have a degree in meteorology
to see the perfect storm that is coming.

PS...As those cd's mature, I'm planning
on balancing out my energy positions with
DEFENSE STOCKS!!! From what I can tell,
that is the ONLY sector that is commiecrate
proof. (they want to hammer the oil suppliers
too, if their pontifications about the
"GREEDY BIG OIL" is to be believed.)
I can hardly believe my own ears these days...
I, for one, am convenced that they would throw
not just Iraq, but the whole world into total
chaos if they thought it would keep them in
power...

Cheap housing, nearly non-existant taxes...
I have a friend who moved to the Pacific side
of Costa Rica to develope a vaction home/rental
property and NEVER CAME BACK !!! He has BETTER
access to the internet way down there than I
do here on the Gulf Coast !!!??????
I'm hoping to get my sailboat down there in
the next year...the insurance cost here in the
USA have gotten so high that it's either take
it out of the country or sell it !
and I keep asking myself...what do you do with
a STOCK when all you have left in it is huge
losses and __HOPE__ that things MIGHT get better...
