Description: This position is an exempt limited term position and does not include county benefits. This position has a special application process and does not accept resumes online through the AIMS system. Please read and follow instructions provided in To Apply: below.
Position is based at the Health Administration Building in Fairfax City. A flexible schedule is available working up to 40 hours per week. Some night and weekend work may be required. Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Physician Consultant, the position will be responsible for identifying opportunities within the Fairfax County community to reach under-served, minority and vulnerable groups such as language and ethnic minorities, senior citizens, mentally, sensory or physically impaired populations. The Pandemic Influenza Educator will draft outreach materials and staff the Pandemic Influenza education display at community events and fairs and cultural events; work with the cross cultural advisory panel on initiatives. Additionally, the position will be responsible for some administrative tasks such as duplicating outreach materials, making folders for participants, mass mailings with mail merge, registering participants for training classes, etc.


Minimum
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in health education, human services, or a directly related field; plus one year of experience in communicable and/or chronic disease education, investigation or other types of health-related work involving considerable public contact.

Special
Requirements: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of employer.

Preferred
Qualifications: Dynamic person with strong interpersonal and organizational skills; bilingual desirable; experience delivering public presentations. Fully proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Note: This position provides no county benefits, does not accrue leave and is grant funded through May 24, 2008; if grant funding is renewed after May 24, 2008, the employee will be required to take a mandatory four-week break after working 48 consecutive weeks (the decision to rehire after the four-week break rests with the agency).
