You should also consider the other new instructions. This was also added to Prescott - not only an additional 512kB cache.

Built-In Self Tests, or BISTs for short, have been used by a number of manufacturers to detect chip defects. They have been found in embedded CPUs, GPUs, and other desktop/server CPUs including those from Sun. Even with this explanation, it is very likely that a number of features inside Prescott are simply not functional at the moment. Likely candidates are support for 64-bit x86 and Dynamic Multi-Threading (DMT) support with speculative pre-execution.

And also, they make clear just how HOT HOT HOT this chip is.
