"You're revisiting history"

I thought we were supposed to do that. At any rate, it should be food for thought for the "Bush lied, soldiers died" crowd.

It's sad that we are as divided as we are. No one is saying that the administration has not made mistakes in the war. Even the administration admits that it has. But there are large numbers of Americans who are so full of hate, that they deny that they are even at war. It's hard to win a war, when so much of your country doesn't even acknowledge there's a war.

Every country demonizes their opponents in wartime. Sometimes, it doesn't take much, such as with the Nazis in WWII. The same seems to be true of Al Qaeda today. They truly seem monstrous. Their values and mores are totally at odds with American views, whether from the left or right. They don't need to be demonized, just view them as they are. Yet, for many people, terrorists are not the villains, their own government is. I think this attitude is harmful and dangerous to our nation. It's one thing to think that another President might have done a better job, and might do a better job in the future. It's another to argue that the President staged a 9/11 attack, resulting in thousands of innocent lives lost, so that he could invade foreign countries. First, of course, was Afghanistan. The anti Bush folks told us then that oil was the reason. Remember that fabulous pipeline that was the REAL reason for Bush's invasion. Where is it? Now we have invaded Iraq, at least there really is oil there.

Iran says that they will fill the vacuum when our troops leave. Is that a great thing for the U.S., the Middle East, the world? If you are in disagreement with me, vote for Richardson, Paul, or Kucinich. The remainder of the candidates are unlikely to totally withdraw from Iraq in the near future. I predict that, at the least, we will maintain a presence in Kuridstan far into the future.
