I'll moderate for now unless someone more reputable wants to do that, lol.

First posted on a particular stock means first entry and dibs on their individual entry. One entry per person, so your first attempt is your only attempt (you have 15 minutes to edit/change your mind!)

You are welcome to post about other stocks that might be great plays for 2006, but your first stock mentioned counts as your entry for the calendar year. The "contest" entry period ends January 2, 2006 at 12 midnight Eastern Time. After that, DD, posts and brags only...

I will personally mail the three winners a $2 bill in December 2006, unless iHub Matt has a better prize in mind.

NFLX for 2006 Just a suggestion any stocks under 5.00 should be in a different contest just my 2 cents but best of luck

That really is a good suggestion -- an UNDER $5 and an OVER $5 category... I'll take that one step further...

HOW ABOUT THREE CATEGORIES:

1. UNDER $1.99
2. $2.00 - $4.99
3. $5.00 and up

These categories will be based on CLOSING PRICES THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 30th. So think about what that means as far as your picks go...

This will require a SERIOUS commitment on my part of SIX BUCKS and three postage stamps (FIRST CLASS STAMPS are going up to 39 cents in January, so too bad The US Postal Service is not a tradable STOCK, hehe [but USPS is a PINK SHEET STOCK - LOL]).

I will pay a winner in each category one $2 bill.

Also, if you think I am doing this for trade ideas, you don't know me well. And how could you! I am just an anonymous poster on a message board.

Bottom line: I am doing this for FUN and CAMARADERIE. So, HAVE AT IT!!!

NOTES and FYI for ALL:

Yahoo Finance closing prices for Friday will be used as the "official closing price for 2005" and the starting point for all entries in this contest.

Also, I will be using the Yahoo Finance feature of keeping track of dividends -- they have an automatic portfolio adjusting feature when a dividend is issued to adjust holdings in a portfolio.

I am setting up Yahoo Finance portfolios for 100 shares of each of the stocks in the contest, so the adjustment factor will be based on 100 shares. This will be more clear as we go along, for those of you that are not familiar with this feature.

This feature DOES NOT, however, handle SPLITS and DIVIDENDS OF SHARES very well, so this will generate some discussion throughout the year as to how to track TOTAL RETURN PERCENTAGE, which is what this contest is based on (not just stock price)...I will rely on those of you who keep up with dividends on your picks to keep me honest...

The biggest issue I can think of so far with this contest is symbol changes. I am going to rely on those of you with entries to keep me honest and make sure I don't lose track of the OTCBB and PINK stocks that may change symbols throughout the year (i.e. adding and deleting an "E" for filing/not filing on time, changes from PK to dual listing on OTCBB with commensurate "OB" change from "PK" etc.) I would appreciate you dropping by to keep me honest.

RULES TWIST -->>>

Okay, I know this will irritate some of you (especially those that chose subpenny stocks), but I have decided to apply REAL WORLD trading expenses to the paper trade entry and exit for each of your picks. I am doing this is an effort to stay as true as possible to the "real world gain" objective I started the contest with. Read on:

First, to complete the "portfolio" of picks on the thread, I have applied a $10.99 trade commission to your entry and pre-applied a $10.99 exit commission to each paper trade. That means a round-trip commission will be applied to each position of $21.98. I chose $10.99 because this is Ameritrade's current commission schedule. You will note that I did not apply any board fees on the end of the trade (how could I?). SO this is slightly to your advantage, and balances out the commission a bit (I did not chose the IZone fee of $5.00 for instance for many reasons that I don't want to get into here).

Second, as I posted yesterday -- each paper trade is a 100 share trade. This may seem like a low number to those of you who are paper trading sub-penny stocks. None of you would buy only 100 shares in the real world, as commissions would eat your lunch on entry alone. However, to be fair, I will be using ONE POSITION SIZE (not one position dollar amount) to set your entry in the contest. I considered that possibility. But recordkeeping on that was literally impossible. Here's what I mean: If I bought, say $5,000 worth of paper shares of each of the picks, I would be dealing with odd lots and fractional shares, and that will not work well with the possibility of reverse splits, dividends and other complications I don't want to get into here. Bottom line is that it won't work. So I chose a 100 share lot as the great equalizer.

I COULD be persuaded to increase the fixed position size to 1,000 shares, but no higher. I want this position size rule to apply across ALL THREE CATEGORIES for simplicity sake. I will listen to your suggestions, but ultimately, it's up to me to settle this minor rule addition. So there.

Our little paper portfolio has "invested" almost $9 million (thanks to Berkshire Hathaway) and we would be up in the $9 billion area if one had actually "bought" 1,000 shares of BRK-A. This is another reason not to monkey with this too much.

I am leaning toward a 5,000 share buy in for all positions -- as opposed to my original buy-in of 100 shares vs. the suggested 10,000...
