Received the following e-mail from Pedro:

A quick note to advice the interested persons that: The expansion of the Panama canal will begin officially the 3rd. of September, next Monday there will be celebrations from officials from all over Pan America and the rest of the World.

1. The first of five excavation contracts has been awarded to “Constructora Urbana, S.A. CUSA

2. The second contract in the Pacific side will be awarded in September and it consists of removing 7.5 millions of cubic meters of earth.

3. The construction of the “esclusas” in the Atlantic and Pacific are the most important components of the project.

4. Before the end of 2007 the ACP will adjudicate over three (3) billion Balboas to the Expansion Project.
