My thoughts are this. The deep wreck had Wilf thinking we finally hit it big. So, he announced the "merger." Timeline adds up. Now that the deep wreck is toast, we do still have the DR on which to cling. However, IMO it was either the deep wreck or the combination of the deep wreck and the DR that initiated the idea of AMEX.
At least, that's what I thought until I saw the float. Now that I see the float is ~50% of the pot, it's pretty clear Wilf is running out of funding options and has to figure out something ASAP to keep the company from going bankrupt or flatline.
Just my opinion... nothing more nothing less.
