That is a 'large' statement. That a 'grassroots' native group is putting time and money in trying to distract from the truth would make me think the negotiations are moving along nicely.
The simply truth is not a matter of whether uranium will be mined in the area, rather, who will mine the uranium. The water is already poisoned (for generations) from those that have. Should the question for the tribe not be: Should we continue with those that have created the problems or investigate others that might offer opportunity if not solutions?
To answer your question, yes I think a small investment in this pinkie is a good gamble. The tribe is obviously interested in what NAEG is saying; I doubt they would have traveled to New York to listen and see a more complete picture if they weren't.
All pinkies are a gamble--individuals have to choose what horse they want to bet on--if at all. I like this horse; if it turns out to be a broken down nag, I'll rip the ticket and bet the next race.
