Re. Revisiting the last Q:
Good post lih, keeps things in perspective.

"I’m convinced that PON technology is the future and is here to stay – there is no going back."

The reason why:
Bandwidth, and the only viable means of delivering large amounts of bandwidth is fiber. Although initial deployment costs are high they are gradually being reduced and cost effective ONT production is just one reason. However the main reason PON technology is here to stay is its future revenue generator potential enabled by the technology. Once the PON is in place and customers are signed the costs of deployment should be recovered in reasonable time frames and that is when the carriers will be generating serious revenues and profitability. Why? Because unlike power over copper and all the ancillary equipment, labor and maintenance required to service a traditional network for the most part has been eliminated. IMO, no way would VZ and others have invested so much to date unless PON was here to stay. This is what it all about folks, big, big money in the next generation of communications.

Yep, no doubt about it as far as I am concerned and we are positioned in the prenatal state with TXP. One of the few times I have owned a stock that is this far ahead of the curve with respect to a whole new technology (FTTX) being rolled out. IMO, this is going to come down to a few major ONT players and with the completed detailed interoperable testing with the ten OLT vendors I think TXP is just about ready for prime time. Time for a major announcement from the likes of TLAB and others. Hopefully a announcement that will give TXP some significant exposure. I'm betting just like PON TXP is here to stay as well as evidenced by the events in lih's post.

Positioning: Although many of us have been in this since the SMKT days my feeling is the clock actually didn't start until last fall when TXP announced the Iphotonics deal. IMO, this really changed the complexion of the company from basic prototyping and primarily (SMT) with packaging, supply chain solutions, DFM capabilities into a different animal all together.

Basically, we have a very small company positioning itself to play in a arena of heavy hitters, not an easy task. TXP, in less than a year has added two very important potential revenue drivers in ONT & Retrofit Solutions. I view this in the same lite as the old adage "Money begets Money" then "Business begets Business" and positioning is a very real and important part of TXP's success. Viewing the additional personnel and their individual roles also lends support to how TXP wants to position itself.

Now if we can only catch a break and get off this hellish OTC LOL, I think we will be in for the ride of our lives.
