Speaking as a retired physician, I have no idea why anyone would WANT to take care of a medicare patient. The government's redundancy, paperwork, and vagueness, is maddening. There is no telling what they want, when they want it, and what they'll do if you don't have it in your records.
The fine is $10,000 per line item for an inaccuracy/non compliant item in a patient's chart.
All for a SVU that is small, and getting worse.
There is decreasing reward, and decreasing satisfaction and increasing liability and headaches associated with treating these people and it's only getting worse.
WHy do you think the plastic surgery and botox industries are taking off and the internal medicine/GP market is crying for patients.
So goes medicare, so goes healthcare in America. And medicare sucks and is getting worse.
