I guess shorting is more complicated then I thought, I didn't realize I could have those effects.
My understanding was that a short seller was basicly borrowing someones shares. I'm not sure I know where all the extra shares would come from that are being dumped into the float.
Doesn't the company control how many shares are outstanding?
