There is a very good analogy for litigation experts.

When you make a deal with a high-price hooker, you pay and then get the service you paid for. Litigation experts work the same way.

Litigation experts know that they will not long be part of the team if their opinion conflicts with what trial counsel wants.

There are some rare experts who will render honest opinions unwanted by the client. They are called consulting experts and they only communicate confidentially with trial counsel. They never testify in court and their reports are never waved around and provided to the press.
