"The second group was a leading player in the waste management business in the New York area and now has interests in mining and trucking in the northeastern United States."

"Allied Waste Industries, Inc. (Allied) is a non-hazardous solid waste management company in the United States. The Company provides collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services for residential, commercial and industrial customers. Allied serve its customers through a network of 304 collection companies, 161 transfer stations, 168 active landfills and 57 recycling facilities in 128 major markets within 37 states and Puerto Rico. The Company operates as a vertically integrated company, which entails picking up waste from businesses and residences and disposing of that waste in its own landfills. In February 2007, IESI Corporation (IESI) acquired the New York City commercial waste hauling operations of the Company. In April 2007, Allied acquired the Arizona collection operations of Waste Services, Inc., two transfer stations and a landfill also located in Arizona. In addition, Allied sold its south Florida operations to Waste Services, Inc."

Only connection I could make to Allied and mining interests is a California proposal to expand an existing landfill and mine the sand and gravel out for resell.

Another problem is them based in AZ. But they are already set up in LA. when they aquired BFI.

Still looking too. Arent we suppose to get 2Q numbers by Wed.?
