When people put in an open order for some odd amount the orders often get broken into pieces leaving a small odd amount left.
Say you have 250,550 sahres of FARTQ. n You sell them with an open order good till cancelled. MM #1 takes 100,000 shares off your hand then I put in a buy order in for 150,000 shares and MM #2 sells them to me leaving you with 550 shares left to sell. You will see when trding is low the MM's will clean out the leftovers.
