A man walks into a hardware store, and asks for canary-yellow paint. When the man behind the counter inquires why, the man replies that he wants to paint his parakeet and enter him into a canary-singing contest.
“Man, you can’t paint your parakeet, you will kill him!” said the man behind the counter. “No, I won’t,” the man responded. “Buddy,” retorted the worker, “I bet you ten dollars that you will kill that bird if you paint it.
The man accepted the bet, bought the paint, and was on his way. A couple of days later, the man entered the store again and laid ten dollars on the counter. “So,” said the worker, “The paint killed him?” “Indirectly,” said the man. “He handled the paint okay, but didn’t survive the sanding between coats.”
