Rook, MrD did have something right in a post on another board. "The nice thing about Democracy, voting, and accountability is that the people and voters will decide."

On the vacation we visited about last month and I just returned from, we visited numerous WW1 and WW2 battle sites, cemeteries and memorials. Most of them were off the beaten tourist track and many are largely forgotten today - Utah Beach (most only visit Omaha Beach), Belleau Woods, the Argonne Forest, Bastogne, the Hurtgen Forest. We finished up the tour visiting Buchenwald (a concentration camp mostly for political prisoners as was Dachau, but not an extermination camp) and the site of the Wannsee Conference where the Nazi leadership planned out the extermination of the Jews and other undesirables. A most humbling experience and reinforced the utmost respect I have for those who have sacrificed to protect our country and way of life. Also, it points out the need to be vigilant against zealots on any side of any issue.

In our case, "voters will decide" whether or not the R/S passes and as in any vote, there will be "winners" and "losers." How will we handle the "loss"? Will some tear the company apart after the vote because they disagree with the outcome at the expense of all the shareholders, or will we respect the outcome of the vote and work together to build on our investment? I'm not sure where accountability fits in with democracy and the right to vote, but there should certainly be a responsibility on both sides of an issue, whether on the "winning" or "losing" side, to respect, to consider and to be sensitive to the viewpoints and rights of the opposition. For the welfare of all, both sides should also have an obligation to move on after a vote. That is what so many have sacrificed so much for. JMHO
