riskanalyst: re SMTX, those EPS figures include large non-recurring gains and tax credits. You need to look at the 10Q's and 10K's.
Just a quick look at Q1 shows a large tax credit accounting for over 50% of the EPS. Pretax EPS was $0.08. On a fully taxed basis, just $0.05 per share.
For 2006, reported EPS was $0.70, but exclude the tax credits, non-recurring gains and disc ops, it was $0.34 .... untaxed ! At a full tax rate EPS was only $0.20 last year.
