Andy, what could I possibly contribute?

I asked something along the same lines before, but now it appears to be a much better question:

Why would AMD, which is obviously hampered by a lack of capacity in the near future, not ask IBM to manufacture at least their "Paris"/"Palermo" (A64, 256K L2) core for them? Obviously, if even VIA thinks it is a good idea to let IBM manufacture their low-end 90nm CPUs in H2/04, processors with probably much lower ASPs than Paris/Palermo, why wouldn´t IBM rather manufacture AMD´s CPUs? Wouldn´t that make a lot of sense for both? Obviously, IBM´s foundry pricing is low enough. I think this is one of the most interesting - and yet unanswered - questions about the IBM/AMD relationship.

Anyone else with some ideas?

Keith
