My wife is a coder for a 60 bed rehab facility for a large corp. Obviously, her info goes to the billing dept so she is sorta out-of-the-loop understanding this concept to increase cash flow quicker to the facility since insurance payments are sent directly to the facility but can take roughly 14 days. I saw your earlier comment and Investwise's reply.

Your post that I'm repling to however gave me pause to bring up the Medicare portion (This rehab facility doesn't accept Medicaid patients).

It would appear a "middle man" is utilized to speed up payment from Medicare. I think she called them "Fiscal Intermediaries" or "FI's" for short. This apparently speeds up the payments to be in line with insuarance companies since the government is so slow and finicky. So, from that context she was able to understand this process a little better.

I'm still struggling with this whole discount of receivables thing for quicker cash flow. The cash churn must be much more severe than I realize. As an administrator do you have a comment about that?
