AeroVironment's Small UAS Achieves Record Flight Duration
Utilizing Millennium Cell's Hydrogen on Demand(R) Technology

Millennium Cell Inc. (NASDAQ: MCEL), a leading developer of hydrogen battery technology, announced that Protonex Technology Corporation (LSE: PTX), a licensee of Millennium Cell’s Hydrogen on Demand® technology, provided the fuel cell system that powered the flight of AeroVironment’s (NASDAQ: AVAV) Puma small unmanned aircraft system (UAS) for nearly five hours. The hydrogen for the UAS was generated using Millennium Cell’s Hydrogen on Demand® technology.

Puma's standard propulsion system comes equipped with rechargeable batteries with a listed flight time of 2.5 hours. The nearly five-hour duration of the Puma flight using fuel cell battery hybrid power surpassed the longest previous Puma flight achieved by AeroVironment using any technology.

The successful demonstration, announced by AeroVironment on June 27, 2007, marked the completion of the first task under AeroVironment’s $4.7 million, five-year IDIQ contract with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory for the development of advanced propulsion technologies for unmanned aircraft.
