STP NEWS: A JDA official has "for first time...belied" the info CVX announced on results of JDZ Block One's first Obo-1 exploration well, online Tela Non reports.

STP-Press carries similar report, citing comments by JDA director for non-oil resources, Olegario Tiny, to STP national TV today, but gives no details.

Tela Non cites Tiny as saying seismics provided by CVX show "quite high prospectivity" in B-1.

Onliner says it "knows" that CVX's Obo-1 found oil in "excess of 100 million barrels," noting that eight other explo. wells are to be drilled in "promising" B-1.

"We firmly convinced that data from first exploratory well in B-1 are very positive. Now we still await word on whether follow-up studies that CVX may yet carry out this year confirm the presence of oil or not", Tela Non quotes Tiny as saying.

STP-Press adds that Tiny's TV comments included his saying that CVX local manager Tim Parsons' non-committal public comments on results on presenting New Year's greetings to Pres Menezes "only commit himself."

P.S. Seems clear to me that STP is belated learning to play the media game. Maybe we'll soon be getting more, not necessarily more credible, info, as countdown to JDZ drilling and EEZ auction approach.
