He resigned as president in March, 2001, and was Secretary Treasurer until September of that year. Link says he remained on the board:

Seems the remark about getting the stock up to $1 is viable, but I wonder how much influence he still had on the company as secretary through September when the price shot back down? Going from president to secretary is definitely a difference in controlling influence.
