CES 2004: More on the Gates talk last night. Go back and read my posts from last night because I'm not going to repeat myself this morning. I'd like to read the Agora Bd. but it's so slow it takes 5 or 6 minutes to come up per post.
Last night Richard and I showed up at the main Hilton casino almost an hour and a half before the Gates presentation. The auditorium is right off the casino. We saw a long line and proceeded to get in it. Come to find out it was the line for the press corp. We went over to the other line and were told the seating was taken and that we'd have to go to the over flow area in the main ball room. Now that room fills up fully an hour before the talk, but we did get seats there. We watched on a big TV screen. A couple of things he said early in his talk may be very important to EDIG. He was outlining the direction of this wireless convergence and he emphasized speech recognition. Less than 10% of all homes in America are wi-fy ready. We just had a new home built and we are all set, and our 3 computers and laptop are on a wireless system. (Nothing works, but we are in theory, LOL). I was really glad to read this morning that Sirius will be offered on the Eclipse. More press media people are here to cover the CES than will cover the presidential conventions! Truly, the business of the U.S. is business. Lois
