It's great that AMEP hit oil instead of salt water. BUT -

It is highly dangerous - and amateurish to the Nth degree - to drill an oil well without having a Blowout Preventor. To do it right you should be using the right weight of mud as well.

I've never heard of anything so asinine. This ain't the first well at Spindletop, dammit.

I had an exchange with Contractor some time ago and discussed this very thing.
