ESPN Classic signs with a2a Group Wednesday, 27 June 2007 a2a Group PLC Completes ESPN Classic Airtime sales system contract (Plus Markets – A2AO)
a2a Group Plc, is pleased to announce the completion of a 12-month project to deliver a multi-territory airtime sales hub for ESPN Classic, the premium channel for retro sports.
ESPN Classic runs multiple dedicated local language broadcast feeds throughout Europe and challenged a2a to develop a vehicle to co-ordinate the programming break patterns across each channel. By co-ordinating the break patterns ESPN is able to synchronise the sale of airtime in each of these markets. Employing its extensive experience in the broadcast market, a2a analysed the workflow and has delivered a unique solution to ESPN Classic that is not only robust but can link between most major sales networks and broadcast systems.
a2a believes that this sales hub could benefit any broadcasting companies who trade their airtime across Europe, and ultimately the world. This pioneering system is the first of its kind and is an example of how a2a Group Plc is leading new business practices developing in the digital TV markets.
a2a Group PLC was founded in 2001, focusing on Red Button and PRTS consultancy. The company quickly won the opportunity to design, build and manage channel management systems for the TV Travel Shop channels. From this core the company has grown and developed the Cube TV interactive broadband television platform. In early 2005 the company was backed by Tangent Industries LLC to put it at the forefront of the exciting IPTV market. June 2007 has seen the company enter into a business combination with Pink Sheets listed Petel Incorporated (PTEL.pk).
