Grande Portage Announces New Massive Sulphide Showings-Ni-Cu-Co-Cr Drill Permits Being Filed

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 26, 2007) - Grande Portage Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GPG - News; "Grande Portage" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that the massive property wide detailed geological mapping and silt sampling continues. To date, 5 new massive sulphide showings have been located at surface which require investigation.
As well, prospecting of the previously announced Ni-Cu-Co-Cr silt anomaly with coincident airborne Mag and EM signatures has resulted in the discovery of a mafic gabbro-diorite with disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite. An I.P. ground geophysical survey is planned as most of the intrusive is capped by limestone or basalt. The Company is filing for drill permits to test the Ni anomaly.
Trenching of the Copper Knob massive sulphide showing adjacent to the north of the Merry Widow Pit has extended this strike at least another 25 metres as it is still open. Projecting the mineralization observed at the Copper Knob to depth indicates that it's possible to drill test this target from the underground workings at the Kingfisher Pit. This will shorten the same respective holes from surface and would allow for easier fan drilling of the target.
The initial resource calculation, based upon the Company's 2006 drilling for the Merry Widow Pit area, is nearly complete. Additional specific gravity data is being collected for use in the tonnage calculation. A site visit is being conducted today by Gary Giroux, the engineer preparing the report. The Company is in the process of including the iron content into the resource calculation.
