The thought I was having was that if your gonna use stock for funding you have to create a market for the financers to recoup their money in. Kinda hard to get folks to give you funds for a block of shares for which there is no market.
I really don't have any proof for this theory other than past interview history, but nature abhors a vacuum.
Also if the share price falls too low in some of these deals it increases the financers share count or options.
