Boy, we sure are getting off target. I look forward to something happening with Cortex so we can get back to the interesting discussion. Straiteminalis, you noted that the video of the WLC7 collapse showed that it appeared as a demolition. Well, of course it did. The intense heat of the aviation fuel as well as flammable materials in the building was sufficient to weaken the steel supports on the impact floors to cause their collapse (just like putting a dynamite charge on these steel girders in a demolition). The collapse of one floor created enough weight on the floor below that a rapid pancaking of all the floors subsequnetly occurred, thus the vertical collapse of the entire building. Demolition of that building would likely create the same effect.
It is interesting the effect of the conspiracy theories, that inevitably surround any catastrophe or assassination, have on the media. The extraordinary number of theories surrounding the death of princess Diana is testament to the conspiracy theorists grabbing any tragedy and spinning it. It is clear what happened, but still those conspiracy mongers go so far as to fake images and write lies to promote themselves. Often to counter these "rumors," investigations are reopened (a great waste of resources), which occurred in the Diana death.
It can go the other way! I recently was involved in a case where a US Marine colonel was assassinated at the El Torro MCAS in 1991. My team revealed that colonel's death could have been nothing other than a murder (assassination by multiple assailants). The circumstances of his death and apparent Department of Defense's 15-year cover up are so bizarre, that no big newspaper will report it. Why? I am convinced that they will not investigate/report it because the events and well-supported conclusions of this case read exactly like a conspiracy theorist's spin (i.e., no rational person would believe it).
