“CTL fuels can do all of this and they can do it cleanly. A recent study conducted by the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL) documents the environmental profile of CTL fuels that will be produced at a CTL plant being built in Wellsville, Ohio, by CTLC member Baard Energy, L.L.C. The study conclusively shows that the advanced technology Baard will use to produce CTL fuels will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost half compared to those of conventional diesel fuel, while emitting substantially less regulated pollutants than low-sulfur diesel.
“The energy producers, consumers and labor unions that compromise the Coal-to-Liquids Coalition urge the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and all members of the Senate to put America on a path to true energy dependence powered by CTL fuels.”
