The company stated in their December PR that they were ordering a NOBO report. I don't think we will ever know for sure what the short interest "if any" is here. I speculate there is significant short interest since shorts run these pinks/OTC stocks hard and make $s on most. What could be a problem for shorts here is if they naked shorted at the time of the forward split last year given there were more shares o/s. In other words, if the company did a forward split to 1.2 bil o/s, the shorts may have said, heck why don't we short another billion in addition to the 1.2 bil o/s. Now, the company does a fairly sudden reverse split a few weeks back and may have a sizable merger in the works. Question is how do you cover any naked shorts that are beyond the current o/s base? Also, it is possible some of the shorts could face bankruptcy rather than cover if what our dd says is going to happen does happen. Same thing happens to longs all the time.
