re Board Info

I see "New Desktop" crossed out, and ZFS crossed out.

Does crossed out mean it was called out, or that it wasn't mentioned? I thought the new desktop was a touted feature:

ZFS is sadly still languishing as an un-mentioned feature. I wonder if Schwartz announced ZFS just to keep Apple from making money on it, counting on Jobs' pique to get the feature nerfed. Hmm, maybe ZFS info is part of the still-NDAd stuff in not-publicly-disclosed session content, and is still "announced" just not "publicly announced". Bleh.

If we don't end up with bootable ZFS, I'll be pretty unhappy. On the other hand, despite WinFS being guaranteed never to ship as a filesystem from MSFT, keeping info close to the chest until there's more ability to deliver product (instead of merely warn competitors) is not irrational behavior.

I'm just noticing how nice the re-sizable text boxes are. That's a Safari3 feature I think is very nice. Also, as I mentioned, its speed is better than Safari2 on my G5 iMac.

I notice that Apple suggests Safari is a way to "surf securely":

Apple needs to get atop the security issues in the app. I don't know how many are in WebKit and how many are actually someplace else in the code, but since Apple offers these frameworks to the world for (ab)use, atop which to build their valuable apps, Apple should take some time and trouble to make them a place where problems are halted, not a place where they turn into exploits.

Take care,
