If they did receive between 5-8 days off - then I wouldn't even look at the timing issue of the trading slow down and when taping ended.
From my understand and slight experience though, generally when it comes to on location production - very few days are given off. The old saying that time is money applies in most cases in the industry.
Granted - they may have worked out a really great deal with the Bronson Speedway which allowed them some days to play with regarding the holiday and such, but generally speaking - unless they are dealing with a HUGE budget - the idea would be to get in, get as much done as possible as soon as possible and complete the schedule as quickly as they could.
I am not saying you are not correct. It would surprise me though to hear that they were taking every weekend off. If that is true then that is a lot of money that they paid out to Bronson when those funds could have been used constructively another way.
