US Brokerage?

Need to come up with my % gains for the year..

Unforunately the US side, which accounts for about 30% of my portfolio took a huge hit this year. As I mentioned stocks like PFE - in US$ I broke even, but with CDN exchange factored, I lost a fair bit. This is just yet another part of problems. I need to track the stuff better and make decisions not only on securities but on currencies. Ah well. Live and learn.

In one account I am starting to be mostly cash. Might be a good time to try out another broker other than TD (me thinks it is slightly easier to move cash than portfolios). I am looking for lower US$ costs per transaction. I was looking at ETrade and even TradeFreedom Canada. Most seem to be fixated on charging $20US to wire money out of the accounts. Not bad if I can save quite a bit on the transactions. Not so good if the transaction costs are only marginally better than TD.

Any help would be appreciated..

Please, can you help a poor Canadian out?
