PHOENIX, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Janex International, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: JANX) -- designer, manufacturer, and distributor of
unique children's products -- announced today that it has signed a Letter of
Intent with Seibun Educational, the U.S. subsidiary of Seibunsya Co. Ltd., the
leading educational toys and products manufacturer/supplier in Japan, to
develop a strategic alliance to market and distribute Seibun educational
products to the specialty retail and mass markets within the United States.
Seibun, new in the United States, is an educational leader in Japan and is
known for being instrumental in the success of Japanese students around the
world. Part of their success is attributed to not only making learning "hands
on" fun, but also challenging to young minds by using high-quality, affordable
products accepted by children, teachers and parents alike. Students, although
having fun while learning, have proven that they mastered complex math and
science concepts better than with the more traditional learning methods.
Along with the distribution of select items from Seibun's 26,000 different
products, Janex and Seibun plan to work together to develop a special line of
educational language products utilizing Janex's patented interactive
technology and Seibun's expertise in the field of education.
Vincent W. Goett, Janex Chairman and CEO, said, "Our alliance with Seibun
International gives Janex an immediate and very significant presence in the
children's educational products market. The combined attributes of Janex and
Seibun, coupled with our proprietary technology, gives Janex the ability to
add our interactive play capabilities to certain products within the Seibun
line. It is our objective to make Seibun products as well known in the U.S.
specialty and mass markets as they are in the Japanese educational market."
The company believes that the combination of Seibun's educational
expertise and Janex technologies can be used in a wide range of applications,
from science kits to children's books and learning aids. Goett went on to say,
"Using speech synthesis, in conjunction with the ability to visually project
the message, will reinforce that message or lesson plan, in the case of
interactive learning aids. Our goal is to bring an affordable interactive
experience to the public by using as many of the senses as possible. So far we
have covered sight, sound and touch."
Mr. Francois R. d'Ours, President of Seibun Educational, stated, "We are
determined to benefit American students by bringing these fun, proven
educational products to the U.S. thereby raising their level of enthusiasm for
science, technology and mind development in general. We're excited over our
partnering with Janex International to achieve our common objective to market
and distribute quality educational products to children who will also learn
while they play."
Janex will showcase the Seibun product line on its innovative and
entertaining website: www.okid.com. "This will enhance the Seibun product line
and provide opportunities to expand this business on an international basis.
Our site's extensive capabilities affords us another medium in which to
introduce and market this new and exciting educational product line," Goett
said.
Janex's current business focuses on the development, design, manufacturing
and marketing of unique interactive children's products utilizing their
patented technologies. Their lines of entertainment, interactive, and
educational products includes toys, games, specialty/educational products,
water activity products and battery-operated toothbrushes trademarked under
the names Janex, DaMert and Malibu Fun Stuff. Janex incorporates licensed
characters into most of its products, and sells its products to the United
States' and Canada's mass merchant retailers, toy specialty stores and
department stores.
Janex International produces family entertainment venues and their
interactive website, www.okid.com, through their Janex Media business unit.
