I agree some kind of slick tablet could be very useful, but it would need an interface unlike that of any computer I'm familiar with. As you know, chemistry note-taking entails entering a mixture of text (with odd symbols and positioning) and specialized line diagrams -- all fast & on the fly. I just can't imagine an iPad in the foreseeable future that could beat John Henry's ballpoint at this task.

Agree, especially when it comes to mechanisms. I have had several students try cut and paste from chemdraw into word but the process is too involved.
