THE PRESIDENT STRAP REITERATES THE CALL TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SO THAT he COMPENSATE FOR NOT PETROLEUM EXPLOITATION OF THE RESERVE OF BIOSPHERE YASUNÍ OR FIELD ITT

Quito June 5, 2007.- The president of the Republic, Rafael Strap, he reiterated his call to the International Community so that he compensate al less with the 50% of the 700 million dollars, It would be able to generate the exploitation of the field Ishpingo, Tambococha, Tiputini (ITT). Our first option is to leave the petroleum in land, but but, we will exploit it with technologies of tip and minimizing the environmental impacts.

The world should know that the Equator will do an immense sacrifice to leave his petroleum in land, "we are arranged has to assume the sacrifice and the cost", but we require "joint responsibility and not charity" to the International Community. They should know that in five or six years the exploitation of the ITT would generate 3 thousand 800 million dollars, without including the investments, with which we would cancel the commercial debt of the country.

The oxygen is a well public one", therefore we expect that al except be compensated al Equator with the half of the 700 million dollars, that would generate the ITT. It is a matter of fundamental and necessary resources for the development of the country, since the social goals of the Government are to reach the minimums of investment in education, that would equal to the 1.200 million dollars, that is a small percentage in relation al gross domestic Product (GDP).
