Faith-Based Prison Program OK'd
The Oklahoma House voted 93-4 last week in favor of legislation that encourages faith-based groups to prepare inmates for life after prison and reduce the number of repeat offenders. The voluntary programs are patterned after similar programs in Texas, Kansas and Florida, and are designed to provide opportunities for offenders "to make positive, lasting life changes," explained Jerry Massie, spokesman for the Department of Corrections. The measure now goes to the Senate.
