alan, apparently rumours do affect the future for two-three months ahaid. What we see is that Intel gets two non-competitive steppings, B0 and C0, and there are millions and tens of millions chips there. This is why the only competitive P4EE 3.4 Ghz with 2 Mb of cache will be released using the Northwood core. The rumour that the flagship cpu will remain to be Northwood and Prescott will flood the midrange is quite important. There is a lot of confusion coming there that Intel customers will have to sort out.

P4EE is truly the "emergency edition". It helps patching the big hole.

What remains to be seen is how Doom will run on this ocean of Celeries...
