Autonomy Expands Relationship with BEA and Joins BEA Portal Star Solution

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; Nasdaq Europe: AUTN; LSE: AU.), a global leader in infrastructure software for enterprise, today announced that it has expanded its relationship with BEA Systems (Nasdaq: BEAS - news). In addition to its own existing OEM partnership with BEA, Autonomy has now joined the new BEA Portal Solution program and will offer four portlets on the new BEA Portlet Gallery(TM).

``We were delighted when BEA joined our OEM partner program earlier this year,'' said Autonomy CEO Dr. Michael Lynch. ``It is with great pleasure that in addition to having BEA as one of our OEM partners, we are now a part of the BEA Portal Star Solution partner program. We look forward to working with BEA and joining the ranks of other top companies that are providing solutions in the BEA Portlet Gallery.''

As previously announced on June 5, 2001, BEA joined Autonomy's OEM partner program and had selected Autonomy's infrastructure technology for use within the current version of BEA Portal Framework, as well as with the new BEA WebLogic Portal 4.0. Autonomy's software is currently available to customers as part of the BEA partner pack that ships with BEA WebLogic Personalization Server 3.5 and will ship with BEA WebLogic Portal 4.0. In addition, Autonomy will now provide four portlets for the BEA Portlet Gallery. These portlets include: Autonomy Retrieval Portlet, Autonomy Agent Portlet, Autonomy Profile Portlet and the Autonomy Community Portlet.

Autonomy integrates information from disparate repositories through an understanding of the content. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyze text and voice (in any language) and identify and rank the main concepts within it. The software then automatically categorizes, links, personalizes and delivers that information. The technology is used to automate these operations within enterprise information portals, business intelligence, customer relationship management, knowledge management and e-business applications.
