There will be shares of the new stock trading the next day.

You probably won't have access to the shares sitting in your brokerage account for several days.

We'll have to see how it plays out. My past experience with a stock was that people were pissed off after a 2 week wait and there was selling pressure when retail shareholders finally got their shares.
