For reasons entirely unrelated to investing, I recently had a discussion with someone in the medical/counseling field about pain treatment being a serious unmet medical need.

Dealing with returning Iraq war veterans may make this a current topic, but regardless of political issues there are many people suffering from chronic and break-through pain.

As baby boomers age, they too will feel the debilitating affects of aging knees, backs, thumbs, and fingers.


For those suffering from "Blackberry thumb" or wishing to avoid joint problems from excessive keyboard use, I'm told the voice recognition software "Dragon Naturally Speaking version 8" is excellent. In about five minutes, you can teach it to recognize your voice, and it keeps learning with relatively few mistakes. [Disclaimer, I have not tried it myself, but probably will get it.]
