Churchill was pretty much right when he said any man under 30 who is not a liberal has no heart, any man over 40 who is not a conservative has no brain.

The baby boomers are getting into their 40s. A lot of them are starting to realize that they have brains.

Some, of course, never will. But a lot are.

BTW, I should clarify that I am using the term liberal in its contemporary sense, for people like Hillary Clinton and Teddy Remember Mary Jo Kopechne Kennedy.

Classic liberalism--the liberalism of Locke, Jefferson, up to Humphrey but ending pretty much there -- is today viewed pretty much as either libertarianism or conservatism, depending on which aspects of you want to emphasis. Which is the camp I'm probably closest to.

It's taken me a while to get here -- after all, when I was in college I was the bleedingest of the bleeding heart liberals. Not trust anybody over 30?? Heck, I didn't trust anybody over 25!
