Re: One last little bit of trivia for you about Griffin. The A0 silicon came back to AMD on a Friday, first silicon always does that just to ruin your weekend. By Sunday, it was booting Windows.

This should have been a relatively simple exercise. After all, Griffin is a lightly modified K8 core with enhanced power management. Getting it to boot Windows should have been easy. As for getting all the power management features to work... now that's what will take effort....

Personally, I don't think AMD will have any trouble getting this chip to market when they claim. If they've already taped out, then launching the chip in mid-2008 should be relatively easy. The problem for AMD will be the fact that Penryn will be fully ramped by that time, that Intel will be getting ready to introduce their 5th generation Centrino platform called Montevina, and a K8 class core is going to have to be seriously good at delivering a power optimized solution, given that it's going to be seriously outclassed in performance....
