In this particular case, he was out cold and came back. He doesn't remember what happened or that he was out. You could see his eyes were as goofy as Mickey Mouse's dog! One more hit and the brain may not be able to reroute the signals to keep him alive. When he blacked out, the backup system was already working. Had he gotten hit again, he could have died on the spot. Better safe than sorry. That is why the ref was there... Because its not up to the fighter.. He wasn't able to hold himself up let alone decide if he was fully alert. Life is too short and its only a fight. Not worth dying over.
