Cosmo... I love ya man but I have to STRONGLY disagree! If you watch the replay and particularly the slow motion of Chuck getting to his knees and looking to the crowd, his eyes damn near go in two different directions.
He was out and there was NO DOUBT about it. As much as I wanted that fight to go longer, where would we and the sport be if its headliner guy, the coverboy of ESPN the Mag, and several others with headlines as Barbaric and other negatives, gets killed in the ring? Its just not worth it.
It was a great call by TFN Contributor John McCarthy... Just think where the credibility of TFN and UFC would be if he died or was mentally injured had McCarthy let it continue? He may have pulled the plug a bit early on the arm-bar, but that was going to happen. This isn't Heaven Can Wait and the law of probability shouldn't apply, but he may have saved that kid some serious career ending injury. So you can't fault the guy for erring on the side of caution - otherwise the cries for barber ism gets louder and has more merit.
We as fans need to be a little more lenient if we want our sport to grow and not get government intervention.
There were some awesome fights last night. The one they showed as filler after the main event was pretty cool. I think it sums it up when I say I think I got my monies worth. More importantly. Liddell will live to fight another day. Thank God for that.
