I agree on AMD's sweet spot in the 65 nm parts but they have to have the higher 90 nm bins to satisfy customers (like me) that want decent multitasking performance. I have an X2 4400+ and an X2 5600+ and the difference in performance is like night and day. The X2 4400+ is only 2.2 Ghz Athlon 64 technology which has been around since 2004. And extra 600 Mhz feels like much more performance for the 30% frequency boost.

That 6750 sounds pretty sweet. I know that it would be nice to
wait for Penryn but Intel is providing some pretty compelling
reasons not to wait. A nice speed boost plus more power efficiency. My guess is that a 6550 would meet my general needs for now unless I run across an application which need better performance.

When you say that these are Intel's prices, you mean in July, right?
