Is it ever practical to modify a process this late after it is introduced ? For one thing, Intel's 45 nm is proceeding fast. No matter how well AMD repairs their 65 nm process, it will be un-competitive with Intel's 45.

The hope of the droids has been best expressed by pgerassi and kpf. Their point is that process technology would be stuck at 65 nm for a few years and AMD will be able to catch up after a few years, so that AMD's designs will eventually get proper process fab realization. And supposedly, the 45 nm node will be in use for many years also. Again, diminishing the effect of Intel's process leadership.

I think this is the basis for the stock market discounting Intel's process advantage. When this assumption is shown up to be false, INTC share price will revalue sharply up. I am now holding more shares than ever.
