Energy

Amazon Energy & Communications through its wholly owned subsidiary, Almunli S.A. (an Ecuador corporation), is involved in the trading of combustion fuels worldwide.

Almunli S.A. was founded in 2004 by professionals in the Oil & Gas industry in Ecuador, whose purpose is to take advantage of the, recently, enacted laws allowing the private sector to build oil refineries in Ecuador, in addition to trading gas, diesel and petroleum.

Petroleum exports
• Ecuador is the third largest exporter/supplier of crude oil in South America behind Venezuela and Brazil.
• According to Oil and Gas Journal Ecuador held proven oil reserves of 4.6 billion barrels in 2005.
• 2005 estimated oil production is 550,000 barrels per day.
• In 2005 Ecuador imported over 24,650,000 barrels of oil derivatives.

Ecuador's crude oil refining system is antiquated and inefficient at best.
• Currently Ecuador has the ability to refine up to 178,000 barrels per day, unfortunately these antiquated refineries are constantly under repair and very rarely do they ever operate to capacity.
• There is a need for refineries in Ecuador.

The Ecuadorian government has implemented a series of laws making it more attractive for foreign and local investment in this sector.
• In March 2000, the Ecuadorian Congress approved a series of structural reforms that provided the framework for the adoption of the US dollar as the national monetary unit.
• Due to strong internal political pressure coupled by an IMF mandate, Ecuador must invest in its refinery infrastructure to lessen its dependency on imported combustion fuel.
• In June 2005 the government passed a set of laws designed to encourage private sector investment in the refining industry.

Almunli S.A has strategically acquired land throughout Ecuador in order to build its mini-refineries.
Almunli expects to break ground on its first refinery in April of 2007.
