Elmer, AMD is very sly. They have received flack for not benchmarking like Intel has benchmarked with Penryn. So what do they do...? Sneak in scores of rigged machines with undisclosed frequencies, while giving digs suggesting that Intel is the one not revealing benchmark scores. Do you think anyone will buy it? I don't.

I think AMD does not want to show how poor the current clock frequency is with Barcelona, which has got to be pretty bad at this point. So they underclock dual core Opteron to make Barcelona look better, but now they are in a situation where quad socket dual core Opteron yields lower than a single socket Kentsfield, and instead claim victory because Barcelona has a 2x greater score.

Those of us who know better say, "So what?" It's barely mediocre, and hardly news worthy. I'm surprised the press lets them get away with any of it. I just can't wait to see what happens when Barcelona finally launches.
