Well, my spouse can tell you that on any projetc he's ever worked on at ibm or intel, there are at LEAST 50 engineers :) so people leaving a project doesn't necessarily hurt a project, may slow it down. People usually leave because they aren't challenged, age, don't like their managers, retire. On this particular project are these people former HPers? I don't think my husband would have heard about itanium, he works in Austin. I know he thinks that not one or five people make a project, it's arch. backend, frontend :) software, tools etc.
